Frequently Asked Questions...

How long do helium filled balloons last?

When filled with helium, a latex balloon will usually last eight to twelve hours and then start to deflate. A microfoil balloon will usually last 4 to 5 days before it starts to deflate - very slowly.

What can I do to make the balloons float longer?

There are a few things you can do to help increase float time. First, be sure to tie a tight knot in the neck of the balloon. If you are attaching ribbons to the balloons, be sure to tie the ribbon below the knot. For special occasions that require prolonged float time, you can also purchase and add Hi-Float Product.

What is Hi-FloatĀ®?

Hi-Float is a non-toxic solution containing a water-soluble plastic that extends the float time of a latex balloon. When dried inside of a balloon, the solution that is similar to the adhesive on the back of a postage stamp, forms a coating which helps to hold in helium.

Why do my balloons keep popping?

It is possible that the balloons have more helium in them than they were designed to hold. Properly filled balloons should have a rounded appearance. Balloons shaped like light bulbs or pear-shaped balloons are overfilled.

Do balloons harm animals?

A healthy animal will not normally choose to eat a latex balloon. Studies have shown that even small animals can easily pass an ingested latex balloon.

What are the environmental implications of using latex balloons?

Latex balloons are not harmful for the environment, as they are 100%, biodegradable. After inflation, the latex begins to breakdown when exposed to the atmosphere and sunlight. About three hours after a balloon is released, it will float to approximately five miles above the earth, oxidize, freeze, and then shatter into small pieces. When the pieces fall to the ground, natural decomposition takes place.
